Parents Turn in Their Pot Smoking Teen

Mr. Christopher from the Corner Stork Baby Gifts blog. In Invercargill New Zealand, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy had reached the end of their rope with their son. Apart from being a typical teenager, they found marijuana in his room and that was the last straw. So they did what any good parent with good parenting skills would do. They called the police and had him arrested. Ok, not all parents would do that.

Police arrived at the Kennedy home and arrested 18-year-old Jamie Douglas Kennedy for drug possession. On his day to appear in court, Judge Kevin Phillips praised the parents for making such a bold move, but luckily for Jamie, passed over giving him any time behind bars. He instead gave Jamie 250 hours of community service and explained how he was lucky to have parents that loved him so much. He made sure that Jamie knew that pot was a dangerous drug that destroys your willpower and ability to resolve issues. I would argue, but I don’t have the energy to fight it.

The parents decision turned out to be a big fuss for most people on both sides of the fence. Some parents consider the move as daring, bold and worth commendation. Other parents feel the move will push their child further away and that it was way too much of a punishment for possession of pot. And if you think about it, 250 hours is a LOT of community service. He’ll be cleaning up roadsides, working at the YMCA or any other of a variety of things to pass the time and there’s a lot of it.
May we suggest that if he’s going to forced to plant things on the side of the highway, he should avoid planting any Cannibus and plant these great wildflower seeds in the shape of a heart instead. The heart shapes will remind him of the love that his parents showered on him. Likewise, if you’d like to spread some love at your upcoming baby shower or wedding, these plantable hearts will remind the recipient of you every season that they grow. Breastfed Babies Risk Being Overfed

Mr. Christopher from Corner Stork Baby Gifts Blog with an interesting article I found out of New Zealand. New Zealand has a “growth chart” that is used to decide if the growth of babies is up to standard. The problem with this chart is that it’s primarily based on the growth of babies that were bottle fed. A result of which is that some doctors are misdiagnosing babies that are breastfed and indicating to the parents that the infant isn’t growing properly. As a result, mothers supplement the baby’s diet with bottle feeding which can then predispose them to overfeeding and obesity.

Studies however have proven that bottlefed children grow faster than breastfed children and that the difference is very noticeable. Jan Payne of the Queensland University of Technology states, “It is unnecessary for breastfed babies to be given artificial formula in many cases because there is a distinct difference in weight gain in the first 24 months between breastfed and bottle-fed babies.

“Babies who are fully breastfed and growing normally can be mistaken as ‘not thriving’ if their weight over time is compared to current growth charts. This is because their weight for age tends to fall below that for artificial formula-fed infants after about six months of age.”, she concludes.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has developed a new growth chart which should replace the growth chart currently in use mostly by the U.S. and the U.K.. Payne notes, “The WHO Child Growth Standards are based on a longitudinal international study of the growth of infants in good health who were exclusively or predominantly breastfed for at least four months,” she said.

There is a wealth of studies on the bottle versus breast debate and it’s one that is not tread on lightly. This may be the first of the pubic reports that indicates an advantage to bottle feeding that we’ve seen in some time. Although some may argue that the main reason for the additional growth is because of the artificial growth hormones that are present in most on the shelf baby formulas.

Ok, Nicole Kidman IS Pregnant

Mr. Christopher here from Corner Stork Baby Gifts Baby Blog. I love when I do a story on a breaking tidbit and then something occurs that negates it. Like the Eddie Murphy Tracey Edmonds story where I announced their secret ceremony near Bora Bora and then had to retract the story as they split ways a week later over a pre-nup. Well, it has happened yet again!

I originally covered Nicole Kidman and the story from London’s Paper the Daily Mail that she was pregnant, but that her publicist very quickly made sure to quell that statement as a mere rumor. “She would have 30 kids if all of the pregnancy rumors about her were true”, she said. However, we’ve just learned that Nicole and husband Keith Urban are INDEED having a baby from news released in the U.K. and Australia, their home. The two 40 year olds were reported to be pawing each other at the Australian Open and Nicole was glowing and a pleasant accompanying baby bump.

Nicole already has two adopted children from her marriage with Tom Cruise. There’s 15 year old Isabella and 13 year old Connor. Nicole had 2 miscarriages during their 10 year marriage which may explain the hesitancy to announce a pregnancy when the potential risk is so high for the possibility of another. It’s certainly not news that you want to share with the world. So it appears that they’ve shared the news with their Australian family, but have kept it hush hush with the States.

But Nicole can rest in the solace that we all wish her the best during this pregnancy. We just hope she and her friends throw her an incredible baby shower with the best unique baby gifts including personalized baby blankets and the cutest baby clothes. Nicole Kidman is NOT Pregnant

Happy New Year from Mr. Christopher from Corner Stork Baby Blog. Hope you had a great holiday.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to squash a rumor before it starts going. London’s “Daily Mail” tabloid announced that actress Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban were expecting a new addition. And since all of Hollywood is doing it now, the well wishes came in droves. But one of Nicole’s publicists told the Australian newspaper Melbourne Herald Sun that it’s not true at all. If all of the assumptions of her fabled pregnancies were true, “she’d have about 30 kids by now”.

Nicole has 2 adopted children with her ex Tom Cruise, 15 and 12. She’s made it public that she does want to have a family with Keith, but may be a little gun shy since her well publicized miscarriage along with an ectopic pregnancy before that. An ectopic pregnancy is when the fertilized ovum gets implanted in tissue other than the uterine wall.

So not this time folks, but at least we know that it’s coming. And we’ll be prepared to offer up some great baby shower favors, personalized baby gifts and baby onesies from Corner Stork Baby Gifts to shower upon the pregnant to be mommy.
